Mandevilla Red

Mandevilla Red
In pots, grow in a loam-based John Innes No 3 compost with added grit. Place in full light but with shade from scorching sunshine. Repot in February or early March. Plants flower in late summer on the current year’s growth, so need early warmth to produce vigorous, flowering shoots – aim for 21ºC (70ºF) during the day and 18ºC (65ºF) at night in spring. Mist daily in summer. Overwinter at a temperature not below 15ºC (60ºF) at night. Water moderately when in growth and give a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly. Water sparingly from October to February. Spur-prune in late winter or early spring by taking sideshoots back to within three or four buds of the permanent framework.
